The importance of Bing
According to a report on search engine traffic (bottom of the next column) as of July 2010, Bing had 13.6% of the search market. Although it was still slightly behind Yahoo, Bing searches increased rapidly, while Yahoo declined.
Bing is owned by Microsoft and has strategic advantages over Google. For example, they invested $240 million in Facebook, and as a result have a close relationship. If someone puts text in the search box on Facebook and there are no Facebook results, then Bing results are displayed.
Because of Microsoft’s significant influence in the world of browsers and operating systems and its financial resources, Bing will continue to be an alternative to Google. Therefore, it should not be ignored in any advertising or marketing campaign. However, since it has a much smaller market share, it can be left as a second phase.
